Who can refer a student to SMYL Community College?
Referrals can only be made by local government schools, the regional Participation Team, the Department of Child Protection and Family Support, or Juvenile Justice. Referrals will not be processed from parents, guardians or carers.
What documents are required for a referral

Completed referral form

Supporting documents, as requested on referral form such as supporting documentation, such as academic reports, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behavioral and attendance records, and any diagnostic reports.
How long does is take for a referral to be reviewed
Referrals are acknowledged within 48 hours, and outcomes of the initial review are provided within seven business days.
How can I support the referral to enrolment procedure timeline?
By making sure your details provided are current and updated when changed and making yourself available via phone or email during the process, you are assisting in the referral timeline.
What happens if a referral is deemed unsuitable?
The referring agency and family are informed, and feedback may be provided regarding alternative pathways.
What criteria are used to assess referrals?

What happens during the interview phase of the referral to enrolment process?

Please note, no outcome will be provided during the interview.
What support is available for students with complex needs?
Individual Education Plans and socioemotional support are developed in collaboration with psychologists and Student Engagement Officers.
