All pathways at SMYL Community College will aim to develop the invidual student's social and personal capabilities. Students will develop their capabilities, and be expected to demonstrate them, by undertaking a range of community and group projects in their Maths and English as well as by understanding qualifications in Personal Leadership.

Project based learning and individualised instruction are at the heart of the curriculum at SMYL CC. Opportunities for cross-curricular, real-life learning experiences are embedded into a student's learning journey, alongside the explicit teaching of values and life skills.
