Year 9 & 10 Program

The College uses practical hands-on project-based curriculum, including group community projects and personal development activities to engage students in their education. The focus of the curriculum is on literacy and numeracy and developing the social and emotional capabilities of students so that they have the capacity to learn and are ultimately able to function in the workplace and in the community.

Curriculum for Years 9 and 10 is characterised in the following way:

  • Individualised learning – driven by Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and wellbeing plans
  • Practical hands-on poject based learning – including a major community project
  • Maths, English, Design and Technology, Physical Education, Health and/or Careers embedded in practical hands-on project work
  • Social/emotional personal development through tailored group activities
  • A range of electives to further develop student interest
  • Year 10s undertake Certificate I Leadership that has personal capabilities embedded
  • Year 10s attend the College’s vocational campuses to be exposed to pre-vocational learning in preparation for their Aboriginal School-based Traineeship or School-based Traineeship
